Just got back from meeting the descendants of the original owners of Hacienda Antigua where I do reflexology. These people are the Yrisarri family that descended from Don Pablo Yrisarri who built the Hacienda Antigua in 1790. Hacienda Antigua is a fascinating part of New Mexico's history. It was really interesting to meet them.
If you haven't visited the web site for the Hacienda Antigua it has quite a history. http://haciendantigua.com/ha/history.asp
Take a trip to old New Mexico.

Hacienda Antigua Inn

I am very pleased to announce that I am moving my practice to Hacienda Antigua Inn, an absolutely incredible location to do feet. Hacienda Antigua is located in the North Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Hacienda Antigua dates back to 1790 and was at one time a trading post along the El Camino Real or the King's Highway. The old El Camino Real passes right in front of doors to this incredible inn.
Entering Hacienda Anitgua is liking stepping into another world. A large very old cottonwood towers over the placita, an open patio or space within a house. A portal surrounds the placita. A portal is a porch extending the length of a building or side of a placita; supported by columns. It was developed prior to air conditioning and keeps you cool during the midday sun. And there is nothing like the cool of a New Mexico night sitting under the portal and looking at the stars.
You are surrounded by antiques that reflect New Mexico's history. The flowers and greenery are an amazing foreground to the rustic terrone walls. The walls are not constructed of adobe but rather are carved from the riverbank of the Rio Grande. The terrones were 24" wide slabs of mud used to construct the building's walls.
The walls keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
And my favorite friends are the three roadrunners who walk these grand walls. You wondered how many generations of roadrunners have made this their home.
If you happen to be in our direction stop on by and get your feet worked on under one of the oldest portals in New Mexico. It is a truly unique setting.

Relaxcation: I thought I had invented a new word

A staycation is a stay at home vacation. Staycations are all the rage now with gas prices so high and since everybody seems to be broke.
Barbara and I recently took a staycation because we simply could not get away. And we are lucky enough to have Hacienda Antigua down the street from us. I am working in this delightful place. And the best part is that Bob, the owner, told us that we should use the pool whenever we feel like it.
So we spent part of our staycation swimming and lounging around the pool. The Hacienda Antigua is surrounded by a large wall and beautiful surroundings. It really is not like being close to home. Yet you don't have the stress of airports or car travel.
That started me thinking about relaxcations or relaxing vacations at home. I thought I had invented a new word. A quick Google and I found out that the word was being not used widely but did exist.
It doesn't take away from the idea of designing your own stay at home relaxing vacation.
Reflexology is an ideal candidate for your relaxcation. Either set up a relaxing reflexology session for yourself or trade with your family and friends. Add the trimmings- soft music, nice lighting. Use your imagination.
What would you do on a relaxcation?
